Thelma James was born in the "Near North", the eleventh child of a family of twelve. Thelma is a graduate of the University of Toronto with a master's degree in social work. She dedicated a large part of her professional life to child abuse identification, and to treatment and violence against women. She has been recognized for her decades of work and volunteer efforts with awards including a Citizenship Award from the Ontario government. Thelma is a member of The Writers' Community of Durham Region.
